He is given able assistance by wife Golde (<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Paula Gianetti<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">).<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Both must cope with the strong-willed actions of their three older daughters and each of their <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">miss-choice<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\"> for a husband.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Tevye tries to arrange a marriage for his <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">first<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\"> daughter Tzeitel (<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Bouket Fingerhut<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">) to the wealthy butcher Lazar Wolf (<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Patrick Barr<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">) which he must undo when Tzeitel professes her love for the poor tailor Motel (<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">James Gregory<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">).<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">When Tevye\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">second<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\"> daughter Hodel (<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Gina Madory<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">), falls in love with the poor student revolutionary Perchik (<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Ben Knoll<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">), Tevye loses his dream again.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">As each of his daughters depart from their culture\u2019s long-time traditions, with the mild Tzeitel marrying for love to the severe Chava (played by <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Bessie Zolno<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">) falling in love with a non-Jewish Russian Fyedka (<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Nicholas Moore<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">), Tevye loses his dream yet again.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Michael Walraven has some wonderful scenes as he talks to G-d about his dilemma. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forallevents.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/DSC_0182-2-2000x1333.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/forallevents.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/DSC_0182-2-2000x1333-300x246.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"246\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">From the first sweet notes of \u201cTradition\u201d through the hearty \u201cTo Life To Life LeChaim\u201d to the poignant spirit of \u201cAnatevka,\u201d Musical Director Carl Oser handles these famous songs with pleasing finesse.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Director Pat Nims and Choreographer Kate Kenyon recreate the rough grace and exciting energy with gliding circles and boisterous folk dances. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Amy Dietz<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\"> is a capable, bothersome Yente \u2013 the matchmaker \u2013 and Patrick Barr is a reasonably solid Lazar Wolf, but it\u2019s the daughters who challenge and erode Tevye\u2019s treasured traditions and who provide the chief dramatic and musical joys, edging the shtetl\u2019s inhabitants into a new world. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">The daughters\u2019 \u201cMatchmaker, Matchmaker\u201d is a delight; \u201cTo Life To Life\u2026\u201d and \u201cWedding Dance\u201d explode with energy, and the swell of \u201cTradition\u201d and \u201cSabbath Prayer\u201d and \u201cSunrise and Sunset\u201d work with unusual charm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Fiddler on the Roof <\/span><\/em><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">will run at the Novato Theater Company <\/span><strong><em><\/em><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">Playhouse from March 27<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\"> through April 26<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">.
