Entra\u00f1as tells the story of what we are made of \u2013 literally! <\/span>Izas<\/span>kun Fern\u00e1ndez <\/span>and<\/span> Juli\u00e1n S\u00e1enz L\u00f3pez <\/span>from El Patio Teatro in Spain create<\/span>, direct<\/span> and perform <\/span>this<\/span> fascinating object puppetry show with narration spoken direct to the audience. It\u2019s part elegant apothecary and part character storytelling, and in total it works very well. This is a show where the audience will learn about wh<\/span>at<\/span> parts of the body are made of <\/span>such as<\/span>potassium, water or <\/span>nitrogen<\/span>, <\/span>other stuff<\/span> and sometimes nothing. While we hear these facts it is <\/span>a <\/span>gentle science \u2013 <\/span>not intense and <\/span>and <\/span>it is<\/span> interesting, especially in the charming way Fern\u00e1ndez and S\u00e1enz <\/span>lead us through their story. <\/span>Taking turns to enlighten us about different organs and there uses they bring out organs that are made f<\/span>ro<\/span>m <\/span>beautifully crafted <\/span>models and cut out old timey yellowed cards with line drawn diagrams. These objects are carefully handled and are placed just as carefully on a shelf, large table or held <\/span>near a real life organ such as the heart <\/span>or brain<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

O<\/span>ne of the most interesting things about this show is that Fern\u00e1ndez and L\u00f3pez treat the subject in a respectful way <\/span>that is not at all ghoulish or squeamish but is warmly matter of fact with a dash of wit and humor! Theatre <\/span>like this is<\/span> vital and can serve so many <\/span>reasons to not only entertain but also to help us understand what makes us tick. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fern\u00e1ndez and L\u00f3pez are completely invested in their characters, <\/span><\/span><\/span>encompassed in their handsome set of polished wooden shelves with objets on each one. It is a compelling stage set and frames them as they speak to us and very occasionally each other or with a non verbal reaction while <\/span><\/span><\/span>bringing forth an object to <\/span><\/span><\/span>share<\/span><\/span><\/span> its story and <\/span><\/span><\/span>valiant <\/span><\/span><\/span>raison d\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00ea<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>tre.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Both <\/span><\/span><\/span>Fern\u00e1ndez and L\u00f3pez <\/span><\/span><\/span>wear costumes evocative of a time gone by <\/span><\/span><\/span>that sets the tone of the show from the first sight of them. <\/span><\/span><\/span>Original music underscores the show at times and adds to the atmosphere. <\/span><\/span><\/span>The <\/span><\/span><\/span>show<\/span><\/span><\/span> I saw was performed in Spanish with <\/span><\/span><\/span>well placed <\/span><\/span><\/span>easy to read surtitles in French and English <\/span><\/span><\/span>that <\/span><\/span><\/span>are part of<\/span><\/span><\/span> the set. Th<\/span><\/span><\/span>is<\/span><\/span><\/span> show<\/span><\/span><\/span> was very well received by the audience. <\/span><\/span><\/span>Entra\u00f1as<\/span><\/span><\/span> was performed at the M<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00e9diath\u00e8que<\/span><\/span><\/span> Voyelles theatre in Charleville-M\u00e9zi\u00e8res, <\/span><\/span><\/span>France <\/span><\/span><\/span>and<\/span><\/span><\/span> produced by the <\/span><\/span><\/span>renowned <\/span><\/span><\/span>Festival Mondial des Th\u00e9\u00e2tres de Marionnettes, September 2025. <\/span><\/span><\/span>Highly Recommended! 4 Stars<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
