Don\u2019t miss Ross Valley Players current production, Pride and Prejudice, The Musical.<\/em> Adapted for the stage by Josie Brown, Jane Austen\u2019s timeless story comes to life thanks to outstanding direction by Phoebe Moyer, incredible music and lyrics by Rita Abrams and fine orchestrations by Wayne Green and Jack Prendergast.<\/p>\n

When the musical was first performed in 2016 at the Cowell Theater in San Francisco, Moyer found it \u201cclever and inventive\u2026with some fun and enchanting modern interpretations.\u201d She suggested RVP produce the show and it was added to the 2020 season, then cancelled due to the pandemic. Moyer is \u201cvery relieved and very happy to finally present this very special show.\u201d She dedicates the production to the memory of her husband Charles Brousse (producer, playwright and theater critic).<\/p>\n

Set in Meryton England in the \u201cYear of our Lord and King George III\u20141813,\u201d the story revolves around the Bennet family\u2019s five \u201cmarriageable\u201d daughters, in particular protagonist Elizabeth Bennet (Lily Jackson). Lizzy meets local aristocrat Fitzwilliam Darcy (Evan Held) whose arrogance causes them to clash from the start, but as the story develops, so does love, and not only for Lizzy and Darcy!<\/p>\n

The large cast\u2019s fine acting and singing satisfies the audience for the entire show –2 hours 45 minutes with one 15 minute intermission.\u00a0\u00a0 The set is charming (Tom O\u2019Brien & Michael Walraven) and costumes authentic (Adriana Gutierrrez).<\/p>\n

Pride and Prejudice, The Musical<\/em> runs March 17-April 16 at the Barn Theater in Ross.<\/p>\n
